What is your name? – via product names

What is your name? This question is one of the first when 2 strangers meet and want to get closer into contact. We learn early on how important names are, and we try very hard to learn names correctly for us in any case. With the name we associate the person.

It’s similar with products. For example there is the Golf class. A label successfully copied as an E‑Class. You don’t even have to name the manufacturer to know that the latter is a Mercedes-Benz.

And what are your products called? Do your product names come from engineering or the ERP system?

Would you like to choose between round A, round B and round F as a floor covering? Or does Garden, City and Indoor look like a more meaningful alternative to you?

Your customer can certainly distinguish between Eco- and Powerline. Smartline raises questions (isn’t eco smart?). And what does Gantry-Line mean? Broach-Line? Rotary without a line?

With good product names, it is easier for your sales department to master the entire product range. New sales employees are trained faster, they concentrate faster on the essentials. You can use more sales channels. The customer is faster with your product. He remembers it longer. He rather comes back to it. Shopping will be easier for him, selling for you!

Product names are too important to be left to chance, the ERP system, or an internal unknown.

If you would like to make your way to meaningful product names, I will be happy to support you, get in touch !
